Quordle: four Wordles at once
Quordle is four Wordles at once: every guess goes on four boards, and you have nine guesses to solve them all. Play the daily Quordle game free, or switch to Quordle unlimited for as many rounds as you like.
How to play Quordle
Four boards sit in a square, two on top and two below, and each one hides its own five-letter word. Every word you type goes on all four boards at once. Each board colors the letters for its own answer: green is the right letter in the right spot, yellow is in that word but somewhere else, and gray is not in that word.
Solve a board and it locks, so your next guesses only fill the boards still open. Solve all four words within nine guesses to win. If you run out, the words you missed show under their boards.
Under each key sit four small marks, laid out just like the boards: top left is board 1, top right is board 2, bottom left is board 3 and bottom right is board 4. A key turns gray once its letter is out on every board you have not solved.
Quordle strategy: four words, nine guesses
Nine guesses for four words leaves five to spare, but only if you solve one board on nearly every guess at the end. The rounds you lose are the ones where two boards each have three possible answers. Spend your first guesses on letters, then switch to solving.
- Open with two or three words that share no letters, such as SLATE, CORNY and HUMID. Three openers test 15 letters on all four boards and still leave six guesses for four words. Our best starting words list has more combinations.
- Solve the easiest board first. One locked board means your next guess only has to serve three, and it often shows you which letters the other words cannot use.
- When a board is down to two or three possible words, pick the guess that also tests a letter another board needs. One guess that splits two boards beats two guesses that each settle one.
- Read the marks before you type. A green mark in the top right corner of a key means that letter is placed on board 2, even if the other three marks are gray.
