Typing moves to the next tile. You can also paste all 16 letters at once.

How to use the Word Hunt solver

  1. Pick the board size: 4 x 4 for the classic game, or 5 x 5.
  2. Type the letters from your board row by row, left to right. Each letter jumps you to the next tile, or paste all the letters at once.
  3. Press Find all words. Words are grouped by length with the points each one scores.
  4. Tap a word to light up its path. Start on tile 1 (outlined) and follow the numbers to swipe it in the game.

Word Hunt points by word length

In GamePigeon's Word Hunt, only the length of a word counts, not which letters it uses:

Points per word length in Word Hunt
Word lengthPoints
3 letters100
4 letters400
5 letters800
6 letters1,400
7 letters1,800
8 letters2,200

One 6-letter word (1,400 points) is worth fourteen 3-letter words, so it pays to look for long words before you spend time on short ones.

How to get better at Word Hunt

  • Hunt for endings. Find -ING, -ED, -ER, -EST and -S on the board, then work backwards to the start of a word. One root word often gives three or four plays: PLAY, PLAYS, PLAYED, PLAYER.
  • Use prefixes. RE-, UN-, IN- and DE- turn a word you already found into a longer one.
  • Mind the diagonals. Most missed words bend through a corner. Scan each tile's eight neighbours, not just the four beside it.
  • Keep swiping. A wrong swipe costs nothing, so try likely words quickly rather than checking them in your head first.
  • Practise between games. Paste a finished board here to see the long words you missed. The same letter patterns come back again and again.

The swipe rules the solver follows

  • A word is traced through tiles that touch, side by side or diagonally.
  • Each tile can be used once per word, but again in other words.
  • Words need at least three letters.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Word Hunt solver work?
It checks every path you could swipe on your board: from each tile to any of the eight tiles around it, diagonals included, without using a tile twice. Every path that spells a word in our word list is shown, longest first.
How many points is each word worth in Word Hunt?
GamePigeon's Word Hunt scores by length: 3 letters 100, 4 letters 400, 5 letters 800, 6 letters 1,400, 7 letters 1,800 and 8 letters 2,200. Longer words are worth even more, so long words win games.
Does it work for the 5x5 board?
Yes. Switch Board size to 5 x 5 and type all 25 letters. The solver finds every word the same way.
Why did the game reject a word from the list?
Word Hunt uses its own dictionary, which is not public. Our list is the ENABLE word list used by many word games, so most words match, but a few rare words may not count. Brighter words in the results are everyday words and the safest picks.
What is the shortest word that counts?
Three letters. Two-letter words do not score in Word Hunt, so the solver starts at three.
Is using a Word Hunt cheat fair?
Use it to practise and to learn after a round: paste a finished board and see the long words you missed. Using it during a live game against a friend is up to the two of you, so ask first.
Can I share a board with a friend?
Yes. After you press Find all words, the page address holds your board. Copy it and send it, and the same board and results open for them.
